New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra ⚖️

October 2, 2024 at 11:50am PDT—We find ourselves at a powerful crossroads during the weeks surrounding this third and final eclipse in Libra on October 2nd. The sign of balance, partnerships, and justice, invites us to recalibrate the scales in the Libra part of our lives, particularly in how we navigate harmony, fairness, and compromise.  Aligned with the South Node—a place of release and surrender—this solar eclipse brings potent, transformative energy that asks us to let go of what would stand in the way of embracing a peaceful beginning.

Eclipses catalyze necessary choices that create turning points in our lives. Two weeks before and after an eclipse can feel as if things are reaching a crisis point where we must decide one way or the other. With a New Moon Solar Eclipse conjunct the South Node in Libra, we might ask ourselves if people pleasing and over-compromising is actually creating disharmony instead of goodwill. With Venusthe New Moon’s ruler—in Scorpio, deeper truths around self-worth, emotional resilience, and loyalty might have more to bear on our underlying feelings than diplomacy and cooperation.

What’s more: although Venus is said to be in Detriment in Scorpio, Venus enjoys triplicity dignity in Scorpio during day charts, enhancing its influence within this water sign. As the ruler of this New Moon Solar Eclipse, Venus’s condition is particularly significant. In the context of this lunation, we might say there’s an underlying theme of feeling down on our luck, overburdened, or at the end of our rope. Yet, there’s an inherent dignity or inner reserve we can tap into. We have the emotional grit to persevere, even if it’s not our ideal situation—we have the strength to get through.

Where do we go from here?

We will experience a final eclipse along the Aries-Libra axis during the Aries New Moon at the end of March 2025. The decisions and adjustments made now will play a significant role in shaping our paths as we move forward into Spring.  Take this time to assess where you may need to make changes. Consider which partnerships and financial arrangements need clearer boundaries or realignment. You can use this eclipse to identify and release any imbalances where you may have been truly overextending yourself.
